How to read and line-up putts correctly

Powered by National Club Golfer

When we are standing over a putt it is quite easy to spend more time time thinking about how we are going to hit the putt rather than where the putt needs to go. Standing side-on from the ball, I’m sure most golfers make three or four practice swings with their head down looking at the ball.

When snooker players line up a long pot, they don’t focus on the white, they focus on the ball they want to pot. It’s the same for darts players or archers, they don’t look at the dart or the arrow, they look at the target.

In this video tip, PGA pro Duncan McCarthy explains why we should spend more time behind the ball, looking directly down the line and to the intended target. Click on the video to see how it’s done properly.
