AG News: Rose reclaims #1 ranking after Turkish Open win
Justin Rose soared back to the top of the world rankings after edging out Haotong Li in a thrilling finish at the Turkish Airlines Open.
The 10-strong shortlist for BBC’s Sports Personality of the Year 2013 has been announced, and golfer Justin Rose is on the shortlist.
Rose fulfilled a schoolboy ambition when he won the US Open at Merion in June to become the first Englishman to win one of golf’s major tournaments since 1996.
Rose’s name appears on the shortlist alongside a host of high-profile names. Cricketer Ian Bell, sailor Ben Ainslie, cyclist Chris Froome, jockey AP McCoy, tennis star Andy Murray, rugby player Leigh Halfpenny and athletes Hannah Cockroft, Mo Farrah and Christine Ohuruogu make up the 2013 finalists.
Andy Murray is the favourite to win the prestigious award, which will be decided by public vote, to be conducted and the winner announced at a ceremony on December 15, but as with previous years, the voting can be anything but predictable.
