No More Silly Season – Lee Westwood

Lee Westwood has had enough of "silly scores" derailing his victory efforts this season.

The former world number one is yet to win this season and told reporters that he needed to bin the mistakes if he was to capture the Turkish Airlines title.

"I always try and look at my form on how many birdies I'm making," said the man from Worksop.

"I'm making a lot of birdies but I'm also making some silly scores, a triple-bogey and a couple of double-bogeys, and I made a few silly bogeys on easy holes last week."

Westwood lagged some 23 shots behind Dustin Johnson at the WGC-HSBC and, as other players scrap it out to be crowned winner of the Race to Dubai, he longs for the consistency that has long been a hallmark of his game.

"You really have to play well the full year," said the Englishman. "In 2000 I think I won something like six or seven events that year.

“You don't need to do that now, you can almost win the money list without winning an event (because) there's a big difference in the size of the purses."
